What Essentials You Need To Create a Perfect Summer Oasis in Your Backyard

May 19, 2023 by Paladin Realty Team

(Guest post by Laura Anderson.)

Summer has already begun, bringing with it a sense of warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s the time of year that calls for a restoration and renovation of your outdoor space, because we make the most out of our gardens during this season. You might have changed your garden composite decking or brought new outdoor furniture last year, but how about some major transformation to the whole garden?

There are a small amount of changes that can help to turn your backyard into a perfect summer oasis this year. Here are a few must-have features that will make your backyard the coziest corner of your home where you can enjoy endless fun entertaining your friends and family:

The Greenery:

Greenery is truly a treat for the eyes. Summer is the best season for growing new plants, so you can enjoy all the colors of your flowers when they are in full bloom. For example, why not choose tropical plants to help to create a beach inspired vacation aesthetic right in your backyard? Well chosen planting can look beautiful, bringing a symmetry to the overall space, adding a sense of variety and vibrancy.

Something you should also consider are the insect repellent techniques you can use for your backyard with natural planting. Insect-repellent flowers and plants can be your savior this summer, helping to keep away unwanted pests. These plants include chrysanthemums, citronella grass and bails, which are all highly effective, as well as visually interesting.

A Water Feature:

What’s an oasis without a water feature? Whilst plants do help to make your backyard look more lively, what brings that feeling of calm and ambiance to your garden is the sound of water flowing. Water features are essential for elevating your outdoor space’s overall feel. You can be as creative as your imagination allows with water features; from a minimal water pond to a stoned waterfall, you can go for anything that suits the surroundings and fits the available space.

Add Some Light:

Have you ever walked around a beach at night? The lights installed help to beautify the area, making it a dreamier, serene, and more picturesque environment. To achieve this similar exotic feel, string lights are one of the easiest and most cost-effective options to brighten up your backyard. Once the sun is down, these string lights can help to create a more inviting space to spend your time in. Simply choose the perfect spot to hang them to maximise your space.

Updating Your Seating Arrangements:

Updating your outdoor furniture to pair and match with your backyard’s aesthetic is essential for the overall feel of your garden. Thankfully, due to the innovation in furniture materials; you now have plenty of material and color options to fit the design ambitions for your space. New furniture will be more long-lasting since it is made to withstand various weather conditions. We recommend browsing your options for comfortable seating and unique designs before purchasing, so you can enjoy your summer evenings outside with seating that perfectly complements your design sensibilities.

To conclude, redesigning your backyard can be one of the most rewarding DIY projects you can undertake this year. View this season as an opportunity to bring a much-needed change to your home, so you can enjoy a sense of freshness after transforming your backyard into an oasis. With a well designed garden, you are more  likely to spend time there, making ever-lasting memories.
