How to Explore Eastern Oregon Before the Move

April 28, 2022 by Paladin Realty Team

(Submitted by Lisa Roberts.)

Moving is a stressful experience. Going to a new place where you don’t know if you’ll ever fit in can make it harder for you to choose where to go. This is always a risk when moving, and there isn’t much you can do about it. However, nothing prevents you from visiting the location where you wish to relocate before deciding. If you do this, you will be able to see everything a place has to offer and determine if it is something you would enjoy. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and beautiful, like Oregon, we’ll show you how to explore Eastern Oregon before the move to be sure you’re making the right choice.

There is a lot to do and see in Eastern Oregon. However, most of its beauty stems from the natural surroundings in which Oregon is situated. Oregon is a great place to visit if you enjoy climbing mountains, hiking in the wilderness, and discovering what nature offers.

Explore the Wallowa Mountains

After a scenic trip through the Wallowa Mountains, you may mistake this alpine wonderland for the European Alps. The Wallowas should be the crown gem of your Eastern Oregon exploration trip. The Wallowa Mountains have an endless amount of untamed hiking terrain, sparkling ribbon lakes, and snow-capped views. Thus, visiting this area is something you shouldn’t miss. Nature lovers and adrenaline junkies will fall in love with the rough landscapes and beautiful vistas on display here.

The Wallowa Mountains will allow you to explore Eastern Oregon and its wilderness.

If you don’t want to hike or climb, you can always take a dip in one of the many mountain lakes here. The lakes have clear water and are ideal for snorkeling and cooling off while surrounded by the beauty of rugged peaks and lush woods. Eagle Cap, located in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, is a hike that you can attempt if you want to get a complete picture of what it’s like to live here. The iconic summit provides views of vast valleys, glacial lakes, and the colorful wildlife of the famed hiking trail. The most popular route to the peak is the 17-mile out-and-back trek from Mirror Lake to Eagle Cap.

Visit Summer Lake

Summer Lake, located in the Great Basin, is a comfortable retreat for outdoor relaxation. It is a must-see for anyone who wishes to explore Eastern Oregon. The lake’s wetlands are a fantastic site for bird watchers to encounter many different bird species. Mother Nature’s geothermal marvels and rugged structures make this a one-of-a-kind destination to explore. The rural surroundings of these mineral springs provide a gorgeous background that will help you relax. You have a stunning highland landscape overlooking the natural pools right off the coast of Summer Lake. There are many things you can do here other than just having fun at the lake. You can also take a lovely trek to the adjacent Summer Lake Basin or Winter Rim.

Take A Look At The Canyonlands

While Western and Eastern Oregon have many similarities, they also have many differences that set them apart. For example, the Owyhee Canyonlands is one of the few remaining pristine natural gems of the United States. People refer to these canyons as “Oregon’s Grand Canyon.” When you see the harsh environment for yourself, you’ll understand why this may be the final American Western frontier. There is also something for river sports enthusiasts. The Owyhee River, which cuts through a rugged, red-rock canyon and is bordered by basalt columns and stunning spires, provides a kayaking experience unlike any other. The harsh environment offers a haven for individuals seeking to get away from it all. A kayaking journey through this geologic paradise is maybe the most mind-blowing thing to do in Eastern Oregon.

Lose Yourself in Umatilla National Forest

Umatilla, located in the Blue Mountains, is not only one of the top family-friendly destinations in Oregon, but it is sure to provide something for everyone who wishes to explore Eastern Oregon. Serene rivers offer opportunities for magnificent boat rides. The steep slopes on display are thrilling to look at any time of the year. Hikers and bikers of all skill levels may enjoy the hundreds of kilometers of diverse terrain in the forest. One of the most remote treks you can take while exploring may be found in the immense wilderness of Wenaha.

The Umatilla National Forest is ideal for those who enjoy hiking or biking in a large wilderness setting.

Wenaha is a trail through the Eastern Oregon wilderness that provides breath-taking vistas of steep canyons. If you come here during the spring, you will be able to see wildflowers in bloom. Umatilla national forest is also a great place if you like kayaking. Paddling downstream on the Grande Ronde is one of the most attractive activities in Eastern Oregon. This is a scenic tour of a lifetime, with sloping canyons, pine woods, and a plethora of wildlife.

This forest alone is so beautiful that it might have you searching for movers to help you move here right away. If that happens, don’t hesitate to make the process quick by using a database of movers, such as the one Best Long Distance Movers offers. It helps to have different moving companies listed and gathered in one place.

Closing Thoughts

You don’t have to go to these places to be convinced that Eastern Oregon is one of the best places to live. If you enjoy nature and peaceful living, then you might as well think about moving here long-term. Searching for long-distance movers in Oregon might not be easy, but it will ensure a stress-free transfer of your belongings. Find your ideal moving team, and you will be on your way to a new blissful place where you can live.

Whit that being said, now you know how to explore Eastern Oregon before the move. And, once you’ve completed the move, if you missed any of the things we’ve mentioned, you’ll be able to see them at your leisure, along with many other things that one can see in Oregon.
