Reasons to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate in 2020

January 6, 2020 by Paladin Realty Team

(Submitted by Lisa Roberts.)

If you are not familiar with Eastern Oregon, investing in its real estate may not sound like a great idea. After all, this gorgeous part of Oregon is hardly making any new headlines and it’s not like there are some huge cities situated in it. But, once you take a closer look at it and realize the charm and appeal of Eastern Oregon, you will easily see that getting some real estate there can be a great idea. So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at top reasons to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate in 2020.

Why should you invest in Eastern Oregon real estate

In order to better understand why investing in Eastern Oregon is a good idea, let’s first go over a thing or two about Eastern Oregon itself. This area of Oregon is not officially recognized as a geographical entity. Therefore, drawing the line at what is and isn’t Easter Oregon, can be a little tricky. Never the less, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the U.S, at least in our opinion. Here you have awe-inspiring deserts like Alvord Desert and Owyhee Desert. And also gorgeous rivers Owyhee river and Grande Ronde river. Not to mention the Blue and the Strawberry Mountains covered with juniper and pine trees.

Some parts of Eastern Oregon are truly astonishing.

So, if you are a nature lover, falling in love in Easter Oregon will be a breeze. But, is the beauty of its nature the only reason to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate? Of course not. This gorgeous area has a couple more things in the store.

A calmer life

The first thing that Easter Oregon can promise you is a calmer life. The largest city here, Hermiston, has just under 19.000 residents. This makes it ideal for anyone who wants to get away from the noise and the rush of a big city. Easter Oregon is filled with smaller cities that have a much more down-to-earth way of living. You will not find crazy clubs or troublesome neighborhoods here. Only good people doing their best to make their lives that much better. So, if you are up for a slower pace in life and would like to live somewhere where you know your neighbors, invest in Eastern Oregon real estate.

Relatively cheap real estate

Another reason to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate in 2020, is the cost of doing so. Now, if you take Oregon as a whole, you will see that the cost of real estate is higher than the U.S. average. But, much of that cost is offset by large cities like Portland. So, once you focus on Easter Oregon, you will easily see that the cost of real estate is lower than the U.S. average.

An average home is going to cost you about $144,700, while rent is going to be about $605. This is way bellow Oregon average that is $247,000 for purchasing and $941 in rent. Furthermore, if you consider that hiring affordable assistance for your move is possible, you will soon see that moving here is quite cost-effective. Therefore, if you want to invest your money in a larger home, finding one and moving to it is much easier in Easter Oregon.

Making money in agriculture

Unfortunately, one of the possible downsides of Easter Oregon is the current lack of job variety. Unless you are working in agriculture, there aren’t many job opportunities you can find here. But, if you are, you probably already know that Easter Oregon is excellent for the production of various goods. Potatoes, wheat, sugar beets, onions… Whatever you wish to grown, Easter Oregon soil is here to help. Plus, you will have an easy time exporting your goods as Eastern Oregon tends to have excellent business agreements with neighboring states.

You’d be smart to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate if you wish to work in agriculture.

What is living in Easter Oregon going to be like in 2020

While the natural beauty of Eastern Oregon and it’s potential for agriculture are some of its strongest features, they shouldn’t be the sole reasons for you to move here. To truly understand why it will be a good idea to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate, you need to have an idea of what living here will be like in 2020. After all, the whole country is going through a quiet change that only the moving companies and demographic agencies are aware of. And some of those changes are bound to affect Eastern Oregon. So, let’s see what 2020 should have in store.

Young people moving to smaller communities

One of the largest current trends is that young people are leaving big cities. They are getting fed up with loud parties and crazy lifestyle. This leads to them leaving Brooklyn and moving on towards a quieter, calmer lifestyle. Going on hikes, breathing fresh air and enjoying the night sky… If any of that sounds good, then you need to leave the likes of NYC, and move to Eastern Oregon. Which is what more and more young people are doing. Add to that the fact that it is becoming easier and easier to work online. This makes making a living in Easter Oregon a whole lot easier.

More and more people are leaving large cities in favor of being close to nature.

Young families looking for larger homes

Another relocation trend is that more and more people are deciding to raise their families in smaller communities. While large cities do provide better education and employment, smaller communities simply have the safety and the feel that you cannot mimic. Furthermore, some of the most expensive real estate in the country is precisely family-oriented communities in larger cities. So, it should come as no surprise that people would rather live in a decent family home in Eastern Oregon, then in a cramped up apartment in NYC. The environment your kids grow up in will help shape the people they will grow into. So, if you want to have healthy and hearty kids, Eastern Oregon is the place for you.
