Oregon is a beautiful state, quite famous for its incredible nature and breathtaking scenery. But, if you travel east of the Cascades, you will find an even more amazingly diverse region. From an economic point of view, Eastern Oregon has plenty of divergent land and resources, which offer perfect ground for various industries. With its unique geography and access to the naval, rail, and other interstate transportation systems, the entire region is continuously growing. Altogether, thanks to economic development and support for all types of businesses, you can find some of the best places in Eastern Oregon for job seekers, from mid-sized towns with local businesses to larger urbanized cities with more complex industries.

Some of the best places in Eastern Oregon for working

It’s a known fact that Oregon’s metro area is positioned in the state’s western parts. However, recent development and improvements are placing the eastern region in focus. When it comes to undergoing developments, places like Hermiston, for example, are going through significant changes. Which, as a result, is increasing the number of job opportunities in different areas. Once famous mostly for agriculture, Eastern Oregon is surely catching up in other business spheres. Given these points, it’s no wonder why people across the country are choosing to invest in Eastern Oregon real estate, commerce, and industry.

Where to move to Eastern Oregon?

Choosing the right place is essential for having a successful start. And since everyone needs a job, you will need to select one of the areas that don’t lack in job opportunities. In Eastern Oregon, many places provide interesting jobs, but eventually, it will come down to personal preferences. From tourism to agriculture to distribution, here are a couple of cities in Eastern Oregon that has a lot to offer:

  • Baker City
  • Burns
  • Hermiston
  • La Grande
  • Ontario
  • Boardman

Should you consider moving to some of these cities, consider finding appropriate help. In general, you can successfully avoid problems with unlicensed crews if you start looking for a reliable moving company in advance. Meanwhile, research these places and see what they offer before making your final decision.

Cities in Eastern Oregon are surrounded by breathtaking nature.

Burns

Burns is a small town in the center of a “green ocean”. Surrounded by an abundance of pastures and greenery, it’s a perfect location for ranching, forestry, and agriculture. This geographical position allows it to remain one of the leaders in the cattle industry. On the other hand, you have a vast and beautiful nature quite convenient for tourism. If you are into the recreation business, Burns’ outdoors are perfect for camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and many more. In addition, places like Burns are slowly changing from traditional industries. They focus on modernization and expansion, which will eventually lead to further development and additional jobs.

Agriculture has been a primary industry in Oregon for decades.

Baker City is one of the best places in Eastern Oregon for job seekers

In the old days, Baker City was a famous trading center of the region. Moreover, the gold rush turned it into one of the major hubs in the 1860s. While other small towns were quick to abandon further progress once the gold rush was over, Baker City continued to thrive. Even today, it’s still one of the significant ranching and logging centers of the region. In the long run, Baker City continues to invest significantly in the economy by supporting business owners to start and expand their businesses. Those who want to move to Baker City to live and work or open their business can easily find help settling down in this area, as many moving companies operate here.

Hermiston

Hermiston is probably one of the most promising cities in Eastern Oregon, job-wise. With not more than 20,000 residents, the city provides jobs for the majority of the population from the surrounding area. In general, agriculture is its primary industry, producing a variety of crops and livestock. However, other sectors are starting to grow exponentially in this city as well. A recent investment in private and public businesses shows that Hermiston is on a path of serious economic growth.

While production and agriculture are continuing to grow, medical and tech companies are also starting to invest in Hermiston. This will, eventually, bring plenty of job opportunities that will require more people to move here. And with a beneficial taxation system, that will not be a problem at all. Whether you are looking for a job or a place to start a business in Oregon, Hermiston is an excellent choice.

La Grande

The first thing you might notice about La Grande is that it’s a perfect stop for all travelers going to the Wallowa Mountains and other popular destinations. But, what makes it unique is that it’s home to Eastern Oregon University. Not so big by the number of residents, but it’s an important educational center of the region.

This, along with existing attractions and agricultural development, draws additional business investors. The modernization of the farming industry is already taking a significant swing toward providing more efficient solutions. As a result, the increase in production is leading to increased demand for workers. If you are looking for a place that offers a wonderful blend of rural and urban, La Grande shows excellent potential for the days to come.

The modernization of the farming industry in La Grande is serious.

Ontario

Ontario, OR, is a popular destination for everyone in connection with outdoor recreation. Just like other places in Eastern Oregon, it has a well-established agriculture and cattle industry. However, Ontario has a lot more to offer. There are more than 1,000 local businesses, from retail to different service providers, and the number is increasing. Besides, there are six large companies, as well as government offices that employ thousands of people. The Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce helps economic development and provides support for individual businesses as well as employees. All things considered, moving to Oregon, especially to its eastern cities like Ontario, is worth your consideration.

Boardman

Another one on our list is the small city of Boardman. Even though not as large as other cities, it’s one of the most economically developed places. People from all over the surrounding areas make the commute to Boardman. Again, the primary focus is on agriculture development and the transportation of manufactured goods. However, the latest reports are showing a large influx of investments in the tech and tourism industries. Basically, it’s a fast-growing city that provides plenty of opportunities for work, despite its size.

If you are looking for an affordable place with potential, you will find some of the best places in Eastern Oregon for job seekers. It may seem that there is nothing more than agriculture and greenery, but these cities have a lot more to offer. Besides job opportunities, they provide beautiful surroundings and a healthy environment for those who want to settle down.
